More than 340,000 appointments every year means the Ambulatory Care Centre is one of the busiest patient care areas at St. Joe’s.
It has 29 specialty outpatient clinics that treat people with everything from skin cancer to diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, and more. Here, patients get the treatment and care plans they need to manage their health at home.
With so many specialties and patients who need easy access to our healthcare experts, it became clear that it was time to expand.
You are making this possible.
Donor support is expanding and updating the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) to accommodate its growing demand—building capacity for additional clinics and services, spacious areas for care so patients can sit comfortably and wheelchairs and stretchers can fit through doors, and dedicated spaces for staff to work efficiently and have a chance to catch a breath in between patients.
“Referrals have been increasing every year, and we simply didn’t have the capacity to see everyone who needed us,” says Tennile Rapley, the Patient Care Manager for the Ambulatory Care Centre.
Now, with the support of our generous donor community, Phase 1 of the ACC transformation is complete and Phase 2 is well underway, and the difference is already visible.
Early 2026 will mark the completion of the Ambulatory Care Centre renovation. With 30% more space—including 16 examination rooms fully equipped with new tools and technology—on a centralized, first-floor location offering improved accessibility, the improved ACC is making an extraordinary difference for patients coming to St. Joe’s for outpatient care.
“It’s amazing to see what happens when everyone gives,” says Tennile. “We are close to finishing our new centre where we can provide more same-day support, along with virtual care, and see patients sooner.”
