Dr. Peter Menikefs, Anesthesiologist
Dr. Peter Menikefs has been caring for patients at St. Joe’s for twenty-five years and serving on the Foundation Board of Directors for more than fifteen. “It’s been a privilege to see St. Joe’s grow and change over the years. With the new patient tower ahead, we’re about to take the extraordinary care our community deserves to the next level.”
Dr. Joan Cheng, Chief of Emergency Medicine
Dr. Cheng joined the St. Joe’s team in 2021, becoming the first East Asian woman to lead a hospital Emergency Department and only the fourth woman ever to serve as an Emergency Department Chief in the region. “Anything is possible when we’re able to collaborate with our incredible staff, physicians and learners.”
Gizelle Barsoum, Clinical Nurse Specialist
Gizelle Barsoum is a Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Family Birthing Centre, where she’s a steady source of support for patients during the earliest—and often most uncertain—stages of pregnancy. “I’ve found so much value in this clinic and the quality of care we’re able to provide.”
Intensive Care Unit Team
The Intensive Care Unit at St. Joe’s provides highly specialized care for adults facing life-threatening illness or injury. With two ICUs on-site, the Critical Care team is equipped to respond to the most urgent and complex medical situations—delivering expert, around-the-clock care when it matters most.

When you give a St. Joe’s Circle gift, the doctor, nurse, staff, or team member you thank will have their name listed on the St. Joe’s Circle wall located in the hospital. They’ll also receive a personal letter, a commemorative pin, and a special purple lanyard to distinguish them in the hospital as a member of the St. Joe’s Circle.
