When Care Brings Us Back to What We Love
When Peter was seriously injured in a car accident in 2015, St. Joe’s helped him do something that once felt impossible: get back on his bike. Now, Peter is giving back—helping St. Joe’s build a state-of-the-art Emergency Department to better serve our growing west-end community. When care extends beyond hospital walls, it has the power to bring people together.
That connection will be on full display at Cycle 4 St. Joe’s, when orthopaedic surgeon Dr. George Vincent and his former patient Peter Zissis cross the finish line side by side. Together, they’re taking on the 100 km ride in celebration of St. Joe’s 100th anniversary and raise critical funds for St. Joe’s.
For Peter, supporting his local hospital is about community and proximity. “In a crisis, the last thing you want is to be far from home,” he says. “St. Joe’s is a vital part of this community. My entire family is grateful to have specialists like Dr. Vincent right here in our own backyard.”
