More than 50,000 appointments every year means the Ambulatory Care Centre (ACC) is one of the busiest patient care areas at St. Joe’s.
The ACC brings together 26 specialty outpatient clinics that care for patients with a wide range of needs, from skin cancer to diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, and more. Here, patients receive the treatment and care plans they need to manage their health close to home.
As demand for these services continued to grow, it became clear that more space—and a more coordinated approach to care—was needed. Thanks to donor support, the ACC has now been fully expanded and reimagined to meet that need.
You are making this possible.
Today, the completed centre offers 30% more space, including 16 modern exam rooms equipped with advanced tools and technology, all within a centralized, accessible location. Thoughtfully designed waiting areas, improved patient flow, and dedicated spaces for care teams are creating a more comfortable and efficient experience for everyone who walks through its doors.
“Referrals have been increasing every year, and we simply didn’t have the capacity to see everyone who needed us,” says Tennile Rapley, Patient Care Manager for the ACC. “Now, with the support of our generous donor community, we can.”
With the full transformation now complete, the impact is already being felt—shorter wait times, more coordinated care, and greater access for the growing west-end community.
“It’s amazing to see what happens when everyone gives,” Tennile adds. “We’ve built a space where we can provide more same-day support, expand virtual care, and see patients sooner.”
