Thank you for believing in the future of healthcare at St. Joe's
Thanks to the generosity of our community, St. Joe’s achieved its most successful fundraising year ever, raising $74.2 million to support extraordinary care today and build the hospital of tomorrow.
Donor support is transforming care across our hospital, from expanded access to specialized clinics and enhanced emergency services, to innovative medical technology that improves patient outcomes. Together, we are helping build a new era of healthcare in Toronto’s west end, including a new patient care tower that will serve our community for generations to come.
This is how YOU build extraordinary. Thank you.

Meet our extraordinary donors
Did you know that 80% of hospital care happens in community hospitals? For more than 500,000 people in Toronto’s west end, St. Joe’s is that hospital.
As our community grows and healthcare needs become more complex, donor support is helping transform our 100-year-old hospital with a state-of-the-art Patient Tower that will expand access to exceptional care, innovation, and healing spaces for generations to come.

This is how you build extraordinary, now and for generations to come.
After more than 40 years caring for patients as a cardiologist and Chief of Cardiology, Dr. Maria De Villa chose to leave a legacy gift to help ensure future generations receive the same extraordinary care that touched both her professional and personal life.
As St. Joe’s prepares for a transformational New Patient Tower, supporters like Dr. De Villa are helping build a healthier future for our community.
“For me, leaving a gift in my estate is a way of giving back to this community that has mattered so much to me, and ensuring that St. Joe’s can continue to grow for future generations of patients and families.” — Dr. Maria De Villa

The Barrett Family Foundation’s historic gift launched the Barrett Centre for Quality Improvement (BCQI), helping St. Joe’s teams develop innovative solutions to improve patient care.
In its first year alone, BCQI-supported projects have enhanced patient experiences, improved safety, and streamlined care across the hospital.
“Learning about QI helps you to better understand problems and
identify the solutions that are likely to have the greatest impact and succeed long-term.”– Thomas Dashwood, Associate Medical director for IPAC, Year 1 BCQI Fellow
A generous $1.5 million gift from the Slaight Family Foundation is helping young adults recover and thrive after experiencing psychosis.
The Recovery and Reintegration Program supports patients ages 18–29 as they work toward goals related to education, employment, relationships, and long-term well-being, while strengthening connections to community-based care after discharge.
“Investing in these connecting services and programs is an
investment in the well-being and future of our youth.” – Gary Slaight, President & CEO, The Slaight Family Foundation
