Each month, we celebrate a West-Ender of the Month — someone who supports St. Joe’s and gives back to our west-end community in meaningful ways. These are neighbours who step forward, lend their talents, and help build extraordinary health care, close to home.
This April 2026, we’re proud to recognize Afrim Pristine.
In Toronto’s west end, community and care go hand-in-hand and Afrim Pristine is a powerful example of what it means to give back to the place that has given so much.
St. Joe’s is such an important place in our community. We all rely on it when we need care, but we don’t always realize how much the hospital depends on the support of our community.
-Afrim Pristine
Born at St. Joe’s and deeply connected to Toronto’s west end, Afrim Pristine’s story is one of full circle. As co-owner of Cheese Boutique, he has built a beloved local business—but his roots in the community, and at St. Joe’s, run even deeper.
Today, Afrim gives back as a Foundation Board member and campaign ambassador, helping champion the importance of community support for the hospital so many rely on. His commitment is also reflected through Cheese Boutique’s annual Mental Health Day, where 100% of proceeds go directly to support mental health care at St. Joe’s.
By visiting Cheese Boutique on Mental Health Day, the community comes together to make a meaningful difference—helping ensure compassionate, accessible care for those who need it most.
For Afrim, it all comes down to this: “Supporting St. Joe’s means making sure that care is always there for our neighbours, our families, and ourselves.”
