Each month, we celebrate a West-Ender of the Month — someone who supports St. Joe’s and gives back to our west-end community in meaningful ways. These are neighbours who step forward, lend their talents, and help build extraordinary health care, close to home.
This June 2026, we’re proud to recognize Len McAuley.
For more than 60 years, Len McAuley has called Toronto’s west end home. Born and raised in the Parkdale–High Park neighbourhood, Len has built deep, lifelong roots in the community he loves.
Today, Len owns Pollock’s Home Hardware in Roncesvalles, where he spent the past 25 years serving customers and supporting the community. As Pollock’s celebrates its 25th anniversary, Len is marking the milestone by giving back to a place that has cared for four generations of west-end families: St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
Len’s connection to St. Joe’s spans a lifetime. He and four of his siblings were born at the hospital, along with two of his children and grandchildren. Over the years, St. Joe’s has cared for his family through joyful milestones and difficult moments, including his father’s cancer journey, his mother’s hip surgery, and numerous visits for his children.
The service we received from the hospital is the primary reason for the donations. We must ensure it remains viable and committed to the West End community.
-Len McAuley
For Len, supporting St. Joe’s is about preserving access to exceptional care close to home. Having a leading community hospital nearby has provided comfort and reassurance throughout his family’s life, and he believes this is something that should never be taken for granted.
“It is very important for people to recognize the value of having a first-class hospital in our neighbourhood.”
Through his leadership, generosity, and commitment to the community, Len is helping ensure St. Joe’s continues providing exceptional care for generations to come.
You can join Len, and Pollock’s Home Hardware, in supporting St. Joe’s this June. Visit the store on Roncesvalles to make a donation and add your name to their growing wall of hammers, or enter the raffle for a chance to win a Weber grill—all in support of patient care at St. Joe’s.
Thank you, Len, for helping build extraordinary!
