Few people visit a hospital more often than dialysis patients. Many come to our renal clinic over 150 times a year for treatment which can last for up to four hours at a time. St. Joseph’s opened a second clinic space to handle the increasing demand for dialysis, but now we have two separate, undersized rooms, both of which new need equipment and new furnishings.
A bright, modern new space
Thanks to our generous donors, construction is underway on the Bachir Yerex Family Dialysis Centre. The new space means that the 900 dialysis patients who depend on St. Joe’s will now receive treatment in a bright, spacious, modern environment rather than a crowded, clinical-looking space.
There will be five private treatment rooms, an isolation room, as well as rooms for private consultations and examinations. Patients, family members and care teams will also have spaces for discussion and education sessions, all leading to better patient care.
