CIBC President & CEO Victor G. Dodig and Toronto Maple Leafs President Brendan Shanahan to lead St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation’s $70 million Campaign

Two Torontonians remember their west-end roots and make a promise to help their community health centre

President and CEO of CIBC Victor Dodig grew up in Parkdale. His parents arrived in Toronto’s west end more than 50 years ago and worked hard to give their children opportunities in life.

President of the Toronto Maple Leafs Brendan Shanahan says west-end is a special place because it’s where he grew up and started playing hockey.

Now Victor and Brendan share more in common besides their west-end roots. They are joining together to lead St. Joseph’s Health Centre Foundation’s $70 million Promise campaign – and making a promise themselves.

“St. Joseph’s is the heart of healthcare of the west end,” says Victor. “People don’t realize how much they rely on it, but it’s always there for you. I was born at St. Joe’s, my brother was born there, my father died there. I am really proud to be co-chairing the Promise Campaign because I am passionate about St. Joe’s.”

Brendan shares the same passion. “St. Joe’s has always been there for my family and the whole community with compassionate care above and beyond the ordinary. When St. Joe’s asked me to play a role that would improve not just my life, but the lives of people I grew up with, I really wanted to help.”
