Our Emergency Department is our front door. Our highly specialized healthcare team provides critical care to babies, children, adults and seniors around the clock.
Last year, our Emergency Department had about 100,000 visits in space built to accommodate 65,000 patients annually; redesigning this essential service is a critically important need for our community.
The new Emergency includes a dedicated area for children who need emergency care, as well as a new Mental Health Emergency Services Unit for our neighbours suffering from a mental health or addictions crisis.
Our new Emergency has adopted innovations like Super Track, a patient-focused method of delivering emergency care. This new method is a North American first developed by St. Joe’s that assigns a physician or nurse to a patient when he or she arrives, eliminating irrelevant steps for patients so they can get better, timely care.
