How you helped mend a broken bone

“When your surgeon draws a smiling sunflower on your cast, you just know everything’s going to be okay. That’s how I felt, when my son Michal needed surgery after slipping on black ice and breaking his leg”, Kimberley Lemeza.

Looking back, Kimberley feels so grateful that her son  Michal received the best emergency care close to home, at St. Joe’s. “I feel grateful to you, for supporting healthcare here in the west-end!”

“Michal’s fall happened in the blink of an eye. Then in what felt like another blink, we were on our way to St. Joe’s, where Michal was diagnosed with a dislocated ankle and multiple fractures. The next day, the fracture clinic confirmed what we suspected: Michal would need surgery. We were so impressed with Dr. George Vincent, the orthopedic surgeon who would perform Michal’s procedure. Surgery is a frightening thing – perhaps you know that yourself – but Dr. Vincent’s calm demeanor and sense of humor were so reassuring”.

Your giving to St. Joe’s, purchases the best equipment, attracts the brightest medical minds, and impacts every person who comes through our doors.

Thanks to Dr. Vincent and to you, Michal’s surgery was a great success! And it inspired Kimberly and her family to become donors – just like you! – to pay forward the kindness they received at St. Joe’s.
